Melissa George is an Australian actress known for her role as Angel Brooks/Parish in the long-running Aussie series Home and Away. In US soil, she is recognizable in her stint as the double agent wife of Michael Vartan in J.J. Abrams' Alias. Melissa has also appeared in several movies including the suspense thriller flicks, The Amityville Horror and Turistas.
Born in Perth, Western Australia on August 6, 1976, Melissa Suzanne George was second among four siblings. She had two sisters, Kate and Marnie, and a brother, Brett. While attening Warwick Senior High School, she studied dance and rollerskating and competed in national and international meets. She began to model at age 16 and won the title Western Australia's Teenage Model of the Year. Melissa then transitioned from modeling into appearing on Australian television, most notably on Seven's Home and Away.
On June 20, 1998, Melissa met her husband Chilean businessman Claudio Dabed in the Island of Bali where she stayed for a while. During the late '90s, George landed roles on potential TV series Mulholland Drive, Hollyweird, and LA Confidential, none of which were picked up by networks. In September 2001, Melissa married Claudio and soon after, she continued work but mostly doing projects in the US.
Her breakout role in US television was playing Lauren Reed in the ABC action drama Alias. She was soon recognized by television audiences and Hollywood producers alike. After her character was killed on the show, Melissa got more opportunities to work on film. Among them was the 2005 thriller co-starring Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston in Derailed. In 2007, she co-starred with Ron Livingston in the touching drama Music Within and with Josh Hartnett in 30 Days of Night.
